Co-ed
The MSU co-ed squad consist of 8-12 couples and one alternate couple. Each member receives an $800 per semester scholarship for their first year and $1,000 per semester scholarship for each additional year(s) as a team member. Each member is also provided camp clothes, camp fees, uniforms and travel expenses. Although the squad is a competitive team, Mississippi State's Spirit Groups first obligation is to our university. The co-ed squad participates in football games, mens home basketball games, tournaments, as well as fund-raising events, alumni appearances, and squad clinics.
The 2011-2012 co-ed squad began their preparation for the season at the UCA/UDA College Spirit camps this past July where they walked away with second place in the cheer and sideline competitions. Members of the co-ed squad participates in the UCA/UDA College Nationals competition each year. In 2002, our competition squad placed ninth, the highest a first year squad had ever placed at that time. The following year, they placed tenth. After taking a break from the national competition, MSU returned in 2006. In 2007, Mississippi State's co-ed team place twelfth in the National competition and in 2008, MSU moved up 2 more spots to 10th place. Mississippi State's Coed team also had Heather Pitman and Rudy Rumbarger to finish 6th in the UCA Partner Stunt Competition.
