The MSU all-girl squad consist of 20-28 cheerleaders. Each member receives a per semester scholarship and is provided camp clothes, camp fees, uniforms, and travel expenses. Although the squad is a competitive team, Mississippi State's Spirit Groups first obligation is to our university. The all-girl squad participates in football games, men's home basketball games, tournaments, as well as fund-raising events, alumni appearances, and squad clinics.
The All Girl team continues to grow in skills, discipline, and dedication, and looks forward to attending the UCA/UDA College Spirit camp to be held at the University of Alabama in July 2014.
Participants attending the recruiting weekend tryouts for MSU Cheer should have the following:
- Completed Tryout Registration Form
- Completed Waiver & Release
- Proof of overall 2.0 GPA
- Proof of a current physical
- Letter of recommendation from a previous coach/sponsor
- Copy of your MSU letter of acceptance
- 3 copies of a head shot photo (no larger than a 5"x7")
All band cheers will be taught at tryouts. Tryouts consist of a fight song, tumbling skills, stunting skills, and execution of cheering abilities.
Requested tumbling skills:
- Standing tumbling - tuck, back handspring back or any advanced standing tumbling
- Tumbling pass(es)
Requested stunting skills:
All Girl Stunts - looking for quick toss skills landing in body positions as well as spinning variations including full-ups and full-arounds from both shoulder level and high to high. Comfort level with flipping skills (rewinds and back hand spring-ups) also taken into account for college transfers.
